Newcastle transfer update as ‘Liverpool threat emerges for Premier League star’
Liverpool have emerged as a rival to Newcastle for Antoine Semenyo while the Magpies can only move in January if they sell first, as per a report from Sky Sports.
Football Insider reported last month that Bournemouth are at risk of losing the Ghana international in January amid interest from the likes of Eddie Howe’s side.
And while the latest update has reiterated that Semenyo is a New Year target at St. James’ Park, it is thought that the necessary money will only be spent if some is brought in first.
At the same time it has been reported that Liverpool are also tracking the 24-year-old, with the current Premier League leaders are apparently looking at potential future options for Arne Slot’s side.
Liverpool interest in Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth will worry Newcastle
Football Insider Opinion
The revelation of this interest in the Bournemouth winger from Anfield will surely be a concern for the Magpies.
It looks as though they are going to have to do some financial juggling if they are to complete the signing of someone like Semenyo.
The Cherries winger would be an excellent addition for Newcastle, giving them the same threat from the right that Anthony Gordon provides on the left.
But while they try to make those numbers work, that will give clubs such as Liverpool time to swoop for the 24-year-old.

Indeed, the pressure on the Merseyside club to strengthen the right of their attack has arguably just increased, with Mo Salah suggesting he is “more out than in” when it comes to a new contract.
That could lead to them pushing even harder to sign Semenyo, who might be tempted by the chance to compete at the very top level with Arne Slot’s side.
Newcastle could then find it difficult to challenge Liverpool for his signature and miss out on a very valuable asset by not being able to move quickest.
