Newcastle United backed to accept £10m Jamaal Lascelles offer after source's reveal - pundit

Alan Hutton has backed Newcastle United to sell Jamaal Lascelles for £10million.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said Newcastle have “moved on” from Lascelles.

On Friday (4 November), sources told this site that the Magpies will listen to offers for the 28-year-old as the continue to transform their squad.

Eddie Howe is an admirer of the captain’s attitude and leadership and regards him as important back-up to Sven Botman, Fabian Schar and Dan Burn.

The defender’s current deal at St James’ Park runs until the summer of 2024 but Howe’s side will listen to offers in the coming windows and there is a possibility he could leave in January.

However an offer of £10million could be needed to secure an early exit.

Hutton suggested that is the right price for a player like Lascelles.

He is the club captain, he has played a lot of football for them it has just not really worked out,” he told Football Insider.

He is probably one of those ones where at a certain stage in the Newcastle development they were conceding a lot of goals and he was part of that so they have kind of moved on from him now.

It is now a question of where can he go next that he is going to play games.

£10million is probably about right. We are talking about a club captain with a lot to offer it just really depends what level he can go in at and who is looking for that centre-back position.
