Newcastle United are confident Freddie Woodman’s value will rocket to more than £10million by next year, Football Insider understands.
The goalkeeper, 22, has established himself as a Championship star during the first half of his season-long loan at Swansea City.
A Newcastle source has told Football Insider the club are closely monitoring Woodman and his development, and believe he is developing into a major asset.
The United hierarchy have high hopes for Woodman even though the club have an army of senior goalkeepers already at their disposal.
Their recruitment team are convinced his value will soar if he continues to play regularly at Swansea, where he has played a key role in their promotion challenge this season.
Woodman has started all 14 of their Championship matches and conceded just 13 goals while keeping five clean sheets.
Steve Cooper’s side are fourth in the division, just two points behind leaders West Brom in a fiercely competitive race for the automatic promotion slots.
Woodman has only played four times for his parent club despite being talked of as a future star ever since his role in helping England win the Under-20s World Cup in 2017.
Martin Dubravka is the undisputed first choice at St James’ Park, where Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot offer experienced back-up.
Woodman is now on his fourth loan after previous spells at Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Crawley Town.
In other Newcastle United news, it can be REVEALED that an Everton left footer is very keen on January transfer to St James’ Park.
