Newcastle United could seal ‘huge’ Jack Harrison signing after journalist’s update – Robinson

Paul Robinson has claimed Leeds winger Jack Harrison would be a “huge signing” for Newcastle United this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 25-year-old could help Eddie Howe’s side close the gap on the top six.

According to the Daily Mail‘s Simon Jones (16 July), Leeds have slapped a £35million asking price on Harrison in this window.

The Magpies are said to be admirers of the left-footer and his industrious style.

Harrison has two years remaining on his contract at Elland Road.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if the winger would be a welcome addition at St. James’ Park, Robinson said: “Harrison is such a versatile player.

“He can play left-back, left wing-back and anywhere across the three behind the central striker. I just think he is a top player.

“He is one Leeds cannot afford to lose. He would be a huge signing for Newcastle.

“They would have to get rid of a few players first because their squad is already too big. It is something they need to really look at and address. You cannot just keep bringing players in and putting other players in the under-23s.

“They are stockpiling players. It is about getting quality players though.

“Jack Harrison is that next level of player. It is about bringing in the next level of player to take the club into the top six.”
