Newcastle United could sign ‘amazing’ Allan Saint-Maximin ally after 24-year-old report – pundit

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Watford forward Ismaila Sarr amid interest from Newcastle United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 24-year-old would be “an amazing” ally for Allan Saint-Maximin in attack.

According to The Sun (29 March), the Magpies are interested in signing Sarr, even if Watford avoid relegation.

West Ham

The Senegal international is under contract at Vicarage Road until the summer of 2024.

The Hornets signed Sarr from Rennes for a club-record £28.8 million fee in August 2019.

When asked for his thoughts on the potential signing of Sarr, Robinson told Football Insider: “Sarr would be an amazing addition.

“He would take a little bit of the focus away from Saint-Maximin.

“I think they will face a lot of competition for Sarr though. A lot of clubs have been tracking him over the last few years.

“Newcastle having the spending power to get a deal done though. That is the level of player they are going to be going for. They are shopping at the top European table now.

“Yes, they are in the bottom half of the Premier League but it won’t be long before they are competing for European spots.”

Newcastle

Sarr has contributed five goals and one assist in 16 appearances across all competitions this season.

No player has more goal contributions for Watford than the Senegal forward since his arrival three years ago.
