By Russell Edge
England Rugby Union manager Eddie Jones has been singing the praises of Newcastle United after visiting the club’s academy.
The Australian coach, widely regarded as one of the best in world rugby, was visiting the Magpies to hold a talk about his experiences in management with some of the coaches at the club, as well as academy players and their parents.
His trip to the North East included a visit to both the club’s Little Benton academy as well as taking a tour around the home of the Magpies, St James’ Park.
Speaking to NUFCTV, available on the club’s official website, the 57-year-old was full of praise for the set up the North East side had, and insisted that the club were one of England’s top sides.
“This is one of the greatest football clubs in England,” said Jones to NUFCTV.

“I’m very impressed with the academy.”
Despite having been in the manager’s seat at some of the world’s top stadiums, including Twickenham, the Stade de France and Murrayfield, when asked about his visit to Newcastle’s 52,000 seater stadium, the England man could not hide his excitement.
He told NUFCTV “[Are you excited?] 100 per cent, it’s a great stadium.
“To have the opportunity to go there is going to be terrific.”
The Magpies have lost just one of their three league matches at home this season, with defeat to Tottenham on the opening day of the season followed by impressive victories over West Ham and Stoke City.
