Newcastle United handed transfer boost as 'exciting' plan confirmed - Agbonlahor
Plans for an “exciting” training ground revamp could help Newcastle over the line in any potential transfer negotiations this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Magpies’ project as a whole will be a much more attractive prospect with European qualification on the horizon.
As per The Athletic (6 May), Newcastle have submitted plans to North Tyneside Council in order to upgrade their training ground after admitting their current facilities “fall significantly below” required standards.
The blueprints include proposals to introduce hydrotherapy and plunge pools, a player lounge, as well as new doctor and physio rooms.
The report claims the works will have minimal impact on the players and could even be completed during the summer break.
Agbonlahor hinted that the revamp could help Newcastle land top talent this summer.

“Players definitely want the best facilities,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“Having that state-of-the-art training ground will definitely help in negotiations.
“But I just think the Newcastle project as a whole now will be exciting. Players will be looking at it and thinking: ‘You know what? This team could be playing in Europe inside the next two years.”
“I feel like players will be more willing to go there now. Will they be willing to choose Newcastle over Spurs, Chelsea, or Arsenal? Maybe not, but sometimes money can talk.
“If Newcastle are going to pay a premium in wages, then it could help. Look at Bruno Guimaraes, he chose Newcastle over Arsenal – and that was for one reason.”
Newcastle sit 13th in the Premier League.
The Magpies are expected to spend big again this summer after a £92million outlay in the January window.
