Newcastle United have agreed ‘free transfer’ after ‘Anderson deal sealed – pundit
Elliot Anderson is like a “free transfer” after signing a new deal at Newcastle United.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider the youngster’s impact at St James’ Park.
The 19-year-old signed a new “long-term” Newcastle United contract on Wednesday (21 September) after making two cameo appearances in the Premier League this season.
The Whitley Bay-born attacker has already cemented himself as a fan favourite in his cameo appearances against Wolves and Crystal Palace.
Kenny can’t wait to see the youngster in action again.
“It’s a free signing for Newcastle,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He hasn’t cost Newcastle a penny, it’s a really good deal for them. To get those players who come through the academy now and again, they can make the difference.
“He looks a solid player and it’s only good news for the club. We know how every club likes an academy player coming through and it always helps when they are from the area.
“I want to see more of him because he sounds exciting and this deal is exciting. He sounds like one player who we should be keeping an eye on.
“Newcastle need a win on the board and maybe a young, talented player like Anderson could help with that.”

Anderson joined Bristol Rovers on loan in January and went on to score eight goals and register five assists in 21 appearances.
He also scored the all-important seventh goal in a 7-0 win over Scunthorpe on 7 May, sealing the Gas’ promotion to League One.
