Newcastle United have ‘stolen’ Dan Burn from Brighton after details emerge – pundit
Newcastle United have stolen Dan Burn from Brighton for £13million, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, heaped praise on the 29-year-old who will “significantly improve” Eddie Howe’s defence.
On Monday night (31 January), the Magpies confirmed the capture of Burn on a two-and-a-half year contract.
According to Sky Sports (1 February), the two clubs agreed a £13million fee for the centre-half who has starred for Graham Potter’s side this season.
Newcastle had two bids rejected for the left-footer earlier in the window but managed to complete a deal prior to Monday’s deadline.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if the deal for Burn represented good value for money, Campbell said: “It is a steal at that price.
“Dan Burn is a very good player and he’s been excellent this season. He’s proven himself at Brighton.
“To get a player of his quality for that price is a steal. He bring with him a decent amount of Premier League experience.
“They have significantly improved their defence in the window. To be honest, they improved all over. I’m intrigued so see how these new players do.”

Burn was Newcastle’s fifth signing of the January window, following the arrivals of Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes and Matt Targett.
The club’s total spend last month was in the region of £93million.
