Newcastle hit by ‘terrible news’ as Wilson out ‘two months’ and two teammates also suffer – pundit
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Callum Wilson may only return to action for Newcastle United in March.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Wilson’s injury is “terrible news” for Newcastle who may also be without Allan Saint-Maximin.
Craig Hope of the Daily Mail reported today (28 December) the club fear their star striker will be out for months with a calf injury while Saint-Maximin also suffered a calf injury in the 1-1 draw with Man United (27 December).

It is claimed Saint-Maximin’s injury is less serious and Ryan Fraser was forced off with a hamstring injury during the game at St. James’ Park.
“With Callum Wilson, when I looked at the replay I thought Mason Greenwood gave him a dead calf? but he didn’t touch him,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“I did my calf a lot of times at Aston Villa including in training and I had a similar reaction to Wilson’s. I was out for like six or seven weeks. Those calf injuries are not quick healers. It might be quicker than a hamstring but still.
“I would say he’ll be out for a minimum of a month and it may be two months. It’s terrible news.

“Other players have got to step up. You saw Dwight Gayle come on, can he step up? Can Jacob Murphy step up? Can Miguel Almiron step up? These players are going to be so important.
“With Saint-Maximum injured too, it’s going to be very tough.”
