Newcastle United news: Campbell hails ‘sensational’ duo who are the ‘stars of the show’
Kevin Campbell has singled out Dan Burn, Chris Wood, Joe Willock, Joelinton and Ryan Fraser after Newcastle United’s win over Brighton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said midfielder’s Willock, 22, and Joelinton, 25, have been “especially terrific.”
Goals from Fraser and Fabian Schar secured the Magpies a 2-1 win over Brighton at St. James’ Park.
The victory was Newcastle’s fifth in their last six games – only Liverpool have bettered Eddie Howe’s side’s form.
As quoted by Newcastle World (6 March), Howe credited his “whole team” for Saturday’s win but emphasised the work of his defence and Chris Wood.
When asked who has impressed him during this run, Campbell told Football Insider: “Eddie Howe’s management is bearing fruit.
“Dan Burn has been outstanding. Wood has given them a real target man who can they can play off and rely on. Even though he hasn’t scored he has played his part. Fraser has been excellent, especially in the last two games.
“The stars of the show have been in that midfield though. Willock and Joelinton especially have been terrific. Howe has got that midfield cooking. Joelinton has been nothing short of sensational.
“They are playing really well. I think Newcastle are going places.”

Speaking after the win, Howe said: “That’s credit to the whole team, everyone plays their part. Chris Wood was magnificent for the team.
“Top, top performances from our backline again.”
