Newcastle United news: Major update on new Paul Dummett contract – sources

Paul Dummett is not set to receive a contract extension at Newcastle United, sources have told Football Insider.

The 32-year-old is a stalwart at St James’ Park after coming through the club’s academy system and making his senior debut in 2013.

But Dummett is out of contract in June and it is believed he will not see that deal renewed into the 2024-25 campaign.

He saw his deal prolonged by 12 months in July 2023 despite a mega-money takeover at Newcastle effectively eliminating his game time at the club.

Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth have recently seen their contracts prolonged – but Dummett will not receive a similar extension.

The Welshman has made four appearances across all competitions this season – totalling 184 minutes.

He was on the bench for each of their Champions League fixtures earlier this term but failed to make a European appearance for his boyhood side.

The five-cap Wales international first joined Newcastle as a nine-year-old in 2000 and has made 209 appearances for the Magpies – notching four goals and one assist.
