Newcastle United news: Pundit issues ‘brilliant’ Eddie Howe verdict after what he’s just seen
Frank McAvennie claims Eddie Howe has a long-term future at Newcastle United after overseeing an impressive turnaround in form.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, lauded the former Bournemouth manager’s work ethic.
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last six Premier League games and currently sit four points clear of the relegation zone.

On 12 February, The Athletic revealed some of the changes Howe has made at Newcastle since his appointment on 8 November.
These include training ground TVs showing player celebrations from recent matches and with standout stats also being shared around the club’s Benton HQ.
McAvennie insists Howe has proved any doubters wrong.
“Howe is doing a great job,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He’s spent the money but anyone would have done the same in his position.
“Newcastle have managed to keep a couple of clean sheets now as well which they couldn’t do before, that on its own is brilliant.
“There seems to be more fight in that team now, a change of manager can give you that.
“We know Howe is very hands-on and I think that can only be a good thing.
“It looks like the players love him as well. People were doubting, asking if he is the right appointment but I can see him staying at Newcastle for a long time.
“There’s no reason why he can’t build something special there.”

Newcastle are next in action against Brentford on Saturday (26 February).
The Magpies will go ahead of the Bees if they can secure another win.
In other news, pundit claims Kieran Trippier injury blow could have been even worse for Newcastle United.
