Newcastle United news: This may be real reason Man City want £50m for Nathan Ake – pundit
Newcastle United must “be wary” of overpaying for Man City defender Nathan Ake this summer, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Tottenham and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 27-year-old is still “not proven at the top level yet.”
Ake is yet to establish himself as a regular at Man City since joining in a £41million deal from Bournemouth in August 2020.

According to The Sun (5 June), Newcastle United have identified the centre-half as a target this summer.
City are said to want £50million for the Netherlands international.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Ake’s reported price tag, Robinson said: “Man City overpaid for him from Bournemouth.
“If Newcastle end up signing him they will be overpaying because City know of the finances they have got.
“At the time, City were in a situation where they desperately needed a centre-back. Bournemouth knew that and overcharged them.
“Ake has been a bit-part player even since really and he still has a lot to prove at the top level.
“Eddie Howe likes him and knows him well from their time together at Bournemouth but I’d be very wary of paying £50million for a player who isn’t proven at the top level yet.”

Ake made 27 appearances across all competitions for Man City in the 2021-22 campaign.
He has three years remaining on his contract at the Etihad.
In other news, a pundit has claimed Man City could replace Riyad Mahrez this summer after journalist’s update.
