Newcastle United owners laying ‘the foundations’ for long-term success after two-year deal agreed – Campbell
Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Newcastle United’s owners after Callum Wilson was handed a new two-year deal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the club are putting in the “foundations” needed to achieve and sustain long-term success.
According to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein (3 October), Wilson, 30 has signed a two-year contract extension that takes him in line with the Magpies’ top earners.

The club are said to want the centre-forward to help the club’s younger forwards develop over the coming years.
Campbell has been impressed by how the club has been handled since the takeover in October 2021.
“When the new owners came in I thought they would be splashing the cash,” he told Football Insider.
“We thought they would be buying this one and that one but no, they are doing it the smart way.
“They are putting the foundations in place first. They are building it right.
“There is certain aspects of the club that need to be improved. The training ground being one. To attract the best players you need to get the things in the background right. It has to be right.

“You can see that they are taking their time and doing things systematically. When you do that and you have deep pockets, it tends to go right.
“Handing Wilson a new deal shows that their heart is in the right place.”
