Newcastle United plan for Bruno Guimaraes revealed after £100m news – sources
Newcastle United are now “very confident” of keeping Bruno Guimaraes this summer after internal talks, sources have told Football Insider.
Eddie Howe is set to look elsewhere to trim the fat and raise funds for the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Magpies boss revealed on Friday (26 April) that the 26-year-old’s £100million release clause will expire in the final days of June, meaning a deal is unlikely.
Selling the Brazilian star is viewed as the worst-case scenario, but money talks, and a ridiculous offer could yet be accepted by Newcastle.
Newcastle United have Bruno Guimaraes plan after talks
The midfield ace wants to challenge for trophies, and believes that is possible at the St James’ Park club.
The Magpies will hold all the aces when the clause expires at the end of June, with Guimaraes tied down to the club until 2028.
He has featured heavily under Howe this season, with the midfielder making 46 appearances in all competitions.
The Brazil international now boasts over 100 Newcastle appearances, with tallies of 15 goals and 14 assists registered.
The 26-year-old has been a fan favourite ever since he made the switch to St James’ Park from Lyon in January 2022.

And Guimaraes committed his long-term future to the English club in October, signing a new five-year contract.
But there is interest in his services from Premier League rivals Arsenal, sources told Football Insider on Wednesday (1 May).
