Newcastle United prioritising deal to end interest in player Eddie Howe ‘is delighted with’
Newcastle United are planning to hold talks over a new contract for Tino Livramento in the near future amid growing interest from Man City.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Magpies have made securing the 22-year-old’s future a priority.
The England international has three years remaining on his current deal, but Eddie Howe sees him as an important part of his plans and wants to ensure he remains at Newcastle.
Football Insider revealed on 8 August that Man City are preparing to accelerate their interest in Livramento as Pep Guardiola has identified him as a “top target”.
However, Newcastle are not prepared to sanction his exit and will now aim to deter City’s interest.

Newcastle United plan Tino Livramento talks after ‘crazy’ demand
Brown told Football Insider in July that Newcastle will demand “crazy” money to sell Livramento despite Man City’s interest as they have no plans to let him go.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the Magpies “definitely” want to agree terms over a new deal for the right-back.
“Newcastle definitely want to get Livramento tied down,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s a player who’s come on a lot in his development over the last year or so.
“It looks like Trippier is coming towards the end of his time there, so that’s a right-back likely on his way out and Livramento will step in.
“They can’t afford to lose him as well as Trippier and then be scrambling to find a replacement.

“In terms of Livramento’s future, though, he’s become a very important player for Eddie Howe. He’s a regular for Newcastle and he’s got himself into the England squad where they rate him highly.
“So if they can get him to commit to a new long-term contract, it’s going to be a priority for them, and I believe they’re going to be working to get that done.
“It’s something they especially want to get done because of the interest in him.”
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 6 July that Newcastle are doing everything to keep Livramento and have no plans to see him leave the club.
Newcastle United have concerns over Trippier have also accelerated Newcastle’s plans as they cannot afford to be left scrambling to sign a new right-back.
Livramento one of Eddie Howe’s most important players
Livramento has become a crucial player for Howe, both currently and in his plans for the future.
Howe has insisted [via Reuters] that he is “delighted with” Livramento and the way he has played since moving to St James’ Park in 2023.

Last season, the full-back featured 45 times across all competitions with 38 of those appearances coming from the start, earning high praise from the boss.
That form also earned him a call up to represent England at the Under-21 Euros, where Man City sent scouts to watch Livramento’s displays.
His ability to play on both sides of the back four has been a feature of his game, having started all three of their Premier League games this season on the left.
As a result, both Howe and his international boss Thomas Tuchel have spoken glowingly about his talent, and the former remains determined not to lose him.
