Finance guru: Newcastle United rivals will love behind-the-scenes blunders as new details emerge
Rival fans will love to see things go wrong behind the scenes at Newcastle United as part of a mooted new documentary centred on the club.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Amazon’s plans to make the Magpies the latest subject of their All or Nothing series.
The Daily Mail reported last Friday (12 August) that Amazon are eyeing Newcastle to be the fourth Premier League club to star in the series.
Man City, Tottenham and most recently Arsenal have all previously invited Amazon’s cameras behind the scenes to film the fly-on-the-wall programme.
Newcastle meanwhile are desperate to boost their commercial revenue in order to achieve the ambitions of the new Saudi ownership regime.
Plumley insists that the All or Nothing documentary would be one way to achieve a greater global profile, although it would entail some sacrifice in terms of their image.
“I think this would be a smart move,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“It has grown as a product and Arsenal and Spurs have done it. It’s great for the viewer because you get to see the stuff behind the scenes that goes wrong, which I think is part of the appeal of the product.
“So, even though there are risks with it, most clubs will see it as a smart play to raise profile. There will be a financial element to it in terms of what is being paid.

“It touches on that point about the younger generation. This appeals to them in terms of that subscription basis through Amazon. It gets the clubs in front of their eyes as well.
“So, there are risks but the pros outweigh the cons.”
