Newcastle United set for 'big' changes after Alexander Isak 'blow' - pundit
Chris Wood may lead the line for Newcastle United in their next Premier League game after an update on Alexander Isak.
That’s according to former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ latest injury blow.
As per Craig Hope on Thursday (22 September), Isak, 23, has left the Sweden camp after suffering an injury while on international duty.
Newcastle are already without Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin ahead of their Premier League clash against Fulham next weekend (1 October).
McLeish claims Chris Wood may be called upon to face the Cottagers, a move that could force Eddie Howe into a tactical rethink.
“If Wilson and Isak are missing, which is a blow, they still have Wood,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Ben Wild.

“He has the experience but maybe they would have to change the tactics a little bit with Chris not having the same legs as Isak.
“You lose a lot of legs with those injuries. Fulham are in good form so this might be one where Howe has to work the tactics in a big way rather than saying ‘we are Newcastle United, we have spent millions and we are going to go for it in every single game’.
“This is one where the tactics of the manager will come into play.”
Record signing Isak has scored two goals in three games for his new side.
Wilson also scored twice in three Premier League games before picking up yet another injury.
