Newcastle United tipped for Miguel Almiron U-turn after £15m news

Miguel Almiron could stay at Newcastle United next season despite the club’s plans to sell him.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Paraguayan’s future.

Almiron, 28, scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Wednesday (20 April).

He has struggled for game time this season but has been handed back to back Premier League starts following an injury to Ryan Fraser.

On 23 March, this site revealed Newcastle are planning to sell the attacker this summer for around £15million as part of a major summer overhaul.

However, Kenny claims Almiron could change the club’s mind if he finishes the season in good form.

“Quite a lot of players are playing for their futures at Newcastle,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Almiron is one of them and he’s scored a brilliant goal last night.

“There is no better way to prove you are capable of playing at the club than by scoring goals.

“Almiron has struggled there for large parts but he has a chance because of Fraser’s injury.

“He’s taken that chance and there is no reason why he won’t be there next season.

“Eddie Howe might like what he has seen and then he just tells the club he doesn’t want him sold anymore.

“Sometimes it’s just that simple.”
