Newcastle United tipped to agree ‘incredible’ Lucas Paqueta transfer after £50m update – pundit
Newcastle United will have “no problem” spending £50million to sign Lucas Paqueta this summer.
That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the potentially “incredible” move.
On 25 May, The Times reported Newcastle are ready to break their transfer record to sign Paqueta, 24, this summer.

They claim any deal will cost the Magpies £50million, eclipsing the £40million shelled out for Joelinton in 2019.
McAvennie doesn’t see Newcastle hitting any snags in their hunt for the Brazil international.
“I know Eddie Howe has been talking, saying they don’t have much money to spend this summer,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Let me tell you, that money is there. If they want to get this guy, and it sounds like they do, then they will.
“He’s already got a mate over there {Bruno Guimaraes] so that is a big plus for him.
“It’s really hard to move to another country on your own. Joelinton can help out as well, being Brazilian.
“It makes a lot of sense to me and even though £50million would be their record deal, that’s the fee they will have to pay.
“Clubs will ask for more money because it is Newcastle, that’s just a fact, unfortunately. But if they really want him, I see no problem in getting him.
“It would be another incredible signing for them, considering where they were.”
Paqueta travelled to Newcastle earlier this month (18 May) to visit Brazil teammate Bruno Guimaraes.
He and his partner were pictured by Guimaraes near the Tyne Bridge and the pair shares several photos of themselves sightseeing on their respective Instagram accounts.
In other news, one expert can’t believe what he’s seen about Dean Henderson’s possible Newcastle United transfer.
