Newcastle United told to agree new Elliot Anderson deal - pundit
Newcastle United must offer Elliot Anderson a new contract to ward off potential suitors this summer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the youngster’s future.
Anderson, 19, joined Bristol Rovers on loan in January and went on to score eight goals and register five assists in 21 appearances.
He also scored the all-important seventh goal in a 7-0 win over Scunthorpe on Saturday (7 May), sealing the Gas’ promotion to League One.
The attacker has already been linked with a loan move to a host of Championship clubs this summer but Kenny insists the priority should be tying Anderson to a new deal.
“Those stats by the way, crazy. He can go all the way to the top,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s clearly progressing well. It’s all about progression at his age and he has done really well while out on loan.
“I’m sure there will be a new contract coming for him because I think he has probably earned a new one.
“It would just be a sign from Newcastle that they know how good he is and how important they consider him to be.
“I think he will go out on loan again next season, and maybe the season after that as well.
“Even then he is only 21 and he has a whole career ahead of him after two full seasons in League One or the Championship.”
Anderson has made two senior appearances for Newcastle United.
Both of them came against Arsenal during the 2020-21 season, one in the FA Cup and one in the Premier League.
