Newcastle United told to U-turn on Allan Saint-Maximin after £50m report - pundit

Paul Robinson has urged Newcastle United not to sell Allan Saint-Maximin in the summer transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 25-year-old should be “part of the process” at St. James’ Park even if the club have their eye on bigger names.

According to the Daily Mail (2 April), the Magpies will listen to £50million offers for Saint-Maximin when the transfer window re-opens.

The French winger is under contract on Tyneside until the summer of 2026.

Robinson claimed Newcastle would be “naive” to cash in now.

“I’d be surprised if they sold him,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Yes, they have huge resources and huge financial power but they are not going to be able to attract the biggest names in football until the move up the Premier League table and compete for trophies. It is a process and he has to be part of that process for me.

“I understand that they want to sign better players than Saint-Maximin but that has to come in time.

“It is a process and I have no doubt that Saint-Maximin should be part of that process. They would be naive to sell him right now in my eyes.”

Saint-Maximin has been one of the Magpies standout players since his arrival in August 2019.

He has contributed 12 goals and 14 assists in 85 career appearances for the club to date.
