Newcastle United transfer news: ‘Massive’ signing tipped with Magpies ‘putting calls in’ – pundit

Newcastle United are in the running to sign some of Chelsea’s players with the club’s future uncertain.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after sanctions were placed on Roman Abramovich on 10 March.

On 11 March, The Telegraph reported some Chelsea players were exploring their options amid fears over not being paid in the coming months.

It was also claimed many of the Blues’ rivals are circling, looking to poach any players who force an exit.

Kenny insists Newcastle are one of these clubs looking to benefit from Chelsea’s situation.

“Newcastle are there, 100%,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Listen, they have the money to do it. They can offer more money than anyone else.

“There is also the whole project at Newcastle, that looks like the place to be at the moment.

“That’s the place they are shopping now, that top table. I don’t see why Newcastle wouldn’t be in the conversation.

“Obviously, Chelsea have some of the best players in the world. It would be massive for Newcastle to get one of them in.

“Newcastle would take pretty much all of them, I’m sure. We have to see what happens with this.

“It’s still developing and we have no idea what’s going to happen.

“But if players end up leaving Chelsea, Newcastle will be putting calls in, I’m certain of that.”
