Newcastle United transfer news: Nine players set to leave – sources
Newcastle United’s summer budget has been affected after missing out on Europa Conference League qualification for the 2024-25 campaign, sources have told Football Insider.
Man United won the FA Cup final on Saturday (25 May), meaning Eddie Howe’s side will not play continental football next term.
It is believed the new blow will dent Newcastle’s summer transfer budget.
However, sources say the biggest impact will come in the form of summer exits – with multiple fringe players now set to depart and free up space and wages in the first-team squad.
Loris Karius, Matt Ritchie, Jeff Hendrick and Paul Dummett are out of contract at St James’ Park next month.
Jamal Lewis, Ryan Fraser, Isaac Hayden, Garang Kuol and Harrison Ashby are set to return from loan spells away from Newcastle next month.
Newcastle plan multiple fringe exits as new blow confirmed
Eddie Howe’s side bolstered their squad last summer (2023) after qualifying for the Champions League group stages but will be without European football next term.
Howe and club chiefs now face tough decisions on the future of several fringe stars as summer transfer plans swing into action.
Newcastle finished seventh in the Premier League this season after a mixed campaign which saw the first-team squad ravaged by injury.

Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are long-term absentees at St James’ Park after both players picked up serious knee injuries mid-season.
Meanwhile, Callum Wilson and Harvey Barnes were among the key stars to miss big portions of the 2023-24 campaign through injury.
