Newcastle United 'very worried' after Alexander Isak injury latest - pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will be “very worried” about his lack of available strikers for the trip to Fulham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said “forward thinking players” such as Miguel Almiron and Ryan Fraser may have to fill in.

As reported by The Telegraph (26 September), club record signing Alexander Isak is set for “several weeks” on the sidelines after picking up a lower leg injury.

The 23-year-old returned to the club last weekend for treatment.

The forward joins Chris Wood, who picked up an injury on international for New Zealand on the Magpies’ injury list.

According to the Daily Mail (27 September), Callum Wilson is expected to be fit enough to start against Fulham on Saturday (1 October).

When asked if Howe will be worried with his lack of options, Hutton told Football Insider: “He will be very worried.

When all the players go away for the international break, they must get that feeling inside where they just pray that they all come back and are 100% fit. It’s not worked out so it’s not ideal, especially with their record signing now injured.

They’ve got the likes of Almiron and Ryan Fraser who played with Scotland recently. They have got forward thinking players so it’s not ideal, it’s not great and hopefully it’s not too bad but he has got players that can maybe fill that void, Joelinton as well who can maybe fill in for the next couple of weeks.
