Newcastle United’s four-man £100m signing plan revealed – sources
Newcastle United have a £100million war chest to spend on strengthening their squad this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The club will prioritise incoming deals for a new wide forward, full-back, goalkeeper and a right-sided centre-back for Eddie Howe’s first-team squad.
This comes after both Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson were allowed to leave the club on 30th June for a combined fee of £65million.
These sales have eased the club’s concerns over profit and sustainability breaches, with the sale of academy players registered as pure profit on the balance sheets.
PSR in the Premier League prevents clubs from making losses of over £105million in a three-year period, with the 30 June cutoff date crucial to keep the books balanced.
Reports claimed that Newcastle feared a double-digit points deduction and faced a £50million+ black hole on 29 June before player sales were rushed through.
Newcastle United have £100m to spend as Eddie Howe transfer priorities emerge
As a result of the sales of Anderson and Minteh before the new season officially began on 1 July, Newcastle now have financial room to spend big on their squad.
The owners are planning to invest a £100million transfer budget to strengthen the squad in key areas after a disappointing season saw them miss out on European football.
After the team suffered several injuries at centre-back last season, with Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles suffering cruciate ligament issues, Howe is prioritising a deal for a new defender.
Football Insider revealed in June that an offer had been made for AC Milan star Fikayo Tomori, although the player was not keen on a move.

Meanwhile, a new wide forward has risen up the club’s list of priorities amid interest in both Anthony Gordon and Miguel Almiron and following the sale of Minteh.
As reported by Football Insider, Jarrod Bowen and Crysenico Summerville are two names on Newcastle’s list of options in the wide forward position.
In other news, West Ham have been tipped to sign Callum Wilson.
