‘Newcastle update with Crystal Palace now ready to sell Marc Guehi’
Newcastle United appear to have made a clear decision on their pursuit of Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace prepare for a high-profile exit this summer.
The 24-year-old has been an incredible asset to the Eagles over the last four seasons, amassing 155 appearances ever since arriving from Chelsea on an £18million deal [The Independent].
Unsurprisingly, after helping Oliver Glasner‘s side to lift the FA Cup against Man City last season, the already existing interest in Guehi looks to have increased exponentially this summer.
Football Insider reported earlier this month that Newcastle and Arsenal were set to go head-to-head for the Palace defensive star, the situation is moving fast and may have altered significantly.

Newcastle United drop interest in Marc Guehi
According to iNews (20 June), the Magpies, despite making several bids for the defender last summer, are pursuing different options for a long-held centre-back vacancy and appear to be out of the race, with Tottenham also interested.
It is understood that Guehi remains interested in a Liverpool switch, which Football Insider reported on Friday, 20 June, and Palace are now willing to sell, but no concrete moves have yet been made by any parties.

Oliver Glasner faces tough summer window at Crystal Palace
Football Insider verdict
While losing Guehi could be a huge blow for the Eagles, Glasner and his staff appear to be ahead of the curve, closing in on a move for Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande.
The 21-year-old has quickly become a key figure for the Portuguese side, now boasting extensive experience in Liga Portugal and the Champions League, as well as at international level.
There will be further concerns about other big-name stars, however, with Mick Brown telling Football Insider that Bayern Munich have turned their attention to Eberechi Eze.

Dean Henderson, Tyrick Mitchell, Adam Wharton, and Ismaila Sarr have all been linked with exits throughout last season, which is now being added to the uncertainty surrounding the club’s European journey.
Glasner has the potential to build on the 2024/25 campaign, especially after lifting silverware, but that could all come crumbling down if he loses the bulk of his squad over the coming weeks.
The backroom staff will be working overtime to replace the exit-linked stars, but with many of them becoming some of the most talented players in the league, that will not be a simple task, or a cheap one either.
