Newcastle urged to ‘move quickly’ to complete ‘brilliant’ Ismaila Sarr signing – pundit

Kevin Campbell has urged Newcastle to “move quickly” for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 24-year-old “ticks a lot of boxes” for the Magpies.

According to The Sun (28 March), Newcastle are targeting Sarr ahead of the summer – with the Senegal international looking “certain” to depart Watford even if they remain in the Premier League.

The former Rennes ace has netted five league goals during an injury-hit season.

Sarr is out of contract in June 2024.

Campbell suggested a potential swoop would be “really good business” – especially if Newcastle can fend off interest from other sides.

“He’s a brilliant player,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Dangerous, quick, strong, can play in multiple positions across the front three – he ticks a lot of boxes.

“That would be a really good bit of business if they can nip in and steal him away.

“The writings on the wall for Watford really, they look likely to go down. He’s one of the players likely to be most coveted by other teams, so Newcastle better move quickly and get in there.”

Watford paid a reported £30million to sign Sarr in 2019.

The 24-year-old, who won the African Cup of Nations with Senegal in February, has notched 24 goals and 17 assists during his time in Hertfordshire.
