Newcastle want ‘instant £25m Lloyd Kelly profit’ – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Newcastle will want “£25million” for Juventus centre-back target Lloyd Kelly.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 67-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted any potential sale will be aimed at giving Eddie Howe the best possible support ahead of the summer transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (22 January) that Newcastle are reluctant to accept offers for Kelly, 26, this month – amid interest from Juventus and Fenerbahce.

The Magpies would have to consider a huge-money offer if it arrives as they have the potential to bank an instant profit on the Englishman after his free transfer arrival from Bournemouth last summer (2024).

Kelly has made 13 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign – starting in seven of those outings.

He is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2029.

Newcastle could reluctantly accept £25m Kelly offer, says Wyness

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “This potential sale will be about PSR, I’m sure.

“He’s been a bright light for their defence so far, from what I’ve heard, so otherwise they’d want to keep him.

“They’ll be looking for around the £25million mark.

“This will all be about meeting the PSR for this season, as well as giving themselves some leeway to give Eddie Howe some support in the summer.”
