‘Newcastle will unleash every trick in the book’ in massive spending spree
Newcastle United are well placed to secure Champions League qualification for next season after their recent good form.
The Magpies spent meagrely last summer (2024) after dropping out of Europe but could make a splash in the upcoming transfer window.
Additionally, Football Insider has revealed (19 April) that Newcastle are set to price rivals out of a move for their star striker Alexander Isak.
In their latest accounts, the Tyneside giants revealed they have £88million of tangible assets on their books – which could be sold to a sister company to free up additional transfer funds.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has insisted he expects Newcastle to “unleash every trick in the book” to ensure they are competitive in the summer window.

‘Newcastle are going to push on’ this summer, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Newcastle are now in a position to make “big moves” this summer.
Eddie Howe’s side sit fifth in the Premier League and are two points above sixth with games against Ipswich, Brighton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton lying in wait.
Wyness insisted Paul Mitchell is the right sporting director to lead the club’s summer assault on the market.
Position | Team | Played | Points | GD |
3 | Man City | 34 | 61 | 23 |
4 | Nottingham Forest | 33 | 60 | 14 |
5 | Newcastle United | 33 | 59 | 14 |
6 | Chelsea | 33 | 57 | 18 |
7 | Aston Villa | 34 | 57 | 5 |
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Newcastle are going to unleash every trick in the book this summer, that’s the plan.
“They’re going to push on. It’s been a few years since their initial big spending spree, I think we’ll see another big one this summer.
“Eddie Howe, when he’s back healthy, is the man to lead them forward. He’s got a lot of faith and trust from the organisation.
“With Paul Mitchell, they’ve got the right sporting director. I expect some big moves from Newcastle.
“This is going to be a fantastic summer to watch and next season will be immense.”

Newcastle prepare move for England international
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed earlier this month (10 April) that Newcastle are readying a “concrete” move to sign Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.
The Magpies are in the market for a new number one shot-stopper despite Nick Pope’s impressive return from an extended injury absence.
Newcastle regard the England goalkeeper as a “huge” talent capable of being the long-term number one at St James’ Park, sources say.
