Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier reacts to Bruno Guimaraes ‘thank you’ message
Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has issued a message to supporters amid the Toon’s disastrous transfer window.
Striker Alexander Isak is exploring a move away from the club, whilst the Toon lost out to Manchester City on Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.
Hugo Ekitike preferred a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool, whilst they were also unsuccessful in their pursuit of Joao Pedro.
Eddie Howe is having to reassess his transfer options whilst out in Asia on the club’s pre-season tour, with the beginning of the league season just weeks away with Newcastle facing a tricky trip to Aston Villa on the opening day.

Trippier shows support as Toon lose again
Newcastle endured their second defeat of pre-season with a 3-2 loss to Arsenal in Singapore.
In a positive for Howe, new signing Anthony Elanga got on the scoresheet, but the Toon were unable to keep hold of their lead.
A Mikel Merino strike and an own goal from 21-year-old Alex Murphy gifted Arsenal the advantage before half-time.
Jacob Murphy equalised before Martin Odegaard netted a late winner from the penalty spot.
Following the game Guimaraes took to Instagram to thank the support in Singapore and claimed the performance was “Much better than last week,” which was liked by defender Kieran Trippier.
The Toon had been thrashed 4-0 a week earlier by Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
Worries on Tyneside amid Isak speculation
Football Insider Verdict
Currently Newcastle’s summer is not going to plan with concerns on and off the pitch.
Guimaraes and Tripper will need to showcase their leadership skills to help Newcastle through this difficult period.
Both players will be extremely important to Howe heading into the new season.

Newcastle need to make a decision on Isak, whether to force him to stay at the club or accept any offer that comes in for the 26-year-old.
Isak has been a sensation on Tyneside and he helped the club to the League Cup last season to endear himself to supporters.
Following the release of Callum Wilson, Howe desperately requires a striker amid the uncertainty on Isak’s future.
Ollie Watkins has been linked with a move to Newcastle, but the club are now considering a shock swoop for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
It has been defensively though which has been a cause for concern in their two pre-season outings with seven goals conceded.
Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini has been revealed as a dream signing for Howe, but no progress has been made on that link.
