Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier reacts to Harry Kane announcement at Bayern Munich
Harry Kane secured his first-ever piece of silverware as Bayern Munich clinched their 34th Bundesliga title, and was celebrated by the league.
Kane was suspended on Saturday (3 May) for what was meant to be Bayern’s crowning moment, but Vincent Kompany’s side missed the chance to confirm their title success after being held to a 3-3 draw at RB Leipzig.
However, the party was postponed for just a single day, with last year’s champions Bayer Leverkusen only managing a 2-2 draw with Freiburg, leaving Bayern with an unassailable lead at the top of the table.
Former Tottenham striker Kane hadn’t won major silverware since breaking into senior football in 2010 despite a plethora of golden boots.
Now though, the 31-year-old has finally has a winner’s medal to his name as the Bundesliga title returns to Munich.

Trippier reacts to Kane’s Bundesliga success
Kane has been Bayern’s talisman in the Bundesliga, and the Englishman looks set to add yet another golden boot to his collection.
The forward has scored 24 goals in 29 league games, as well as picking up eight assists, and is currently five goals clear of Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy at the top of the scoring charts.
Player | Team | Goals Scored |
Harry Kane | Bayern Munich | 24 |
Serhou Guirassy | Borussia Dortmund | 19 |
Patrik Schick | Bayer Leverkusen | 19 |
Tim Kleindienst | Borussia Monchengladbach | 16 |
To mark winning his maiden piece of silverware, Kane collaborated with the Bundesliga Instagram account to post a celebratory photo, in which the striker is clutching the Meisterschale trophy.
Newcastle United full-back Kieran Trippier liked the post, which was captioned: “He’s finally done it.”
Kane and Trippier played together for four seasons at Tottenham, and both started in Spurs’ Champions League final defeat to Liverpool, back in 2019.
The duo were part of the England squad who were denied Euro 2024 glory by Spain, and the pair also both experienced penalty shootout defeat to Italy in the Euro 2020 final.
Kane can create ‘legacy’ at Bayern
It doesn’t seem like the England skipper will be leaving Germany anytime soon, and Manchester City’s former financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that it would cost at least £100million to prise Kane away from the Bayern Munich.
If he is to stay in Munich, Kane is well on his way to creating a legacy at the club, having already scored 60 goals since his move from Tottenham in the summer of 2023.
Of course, the Bundesliga title is effectively the minimum each year for Bayern, and Kane will be desperate to help the Bavarian side win a Champions League to cement his name among the greats.
