Newcastle’s Tino Livramento offer revealed after Man City knocked back

Tino Livramento is set to be offered a new contract by Newcastle United as they try to fend off interest from Manchester City, sources have told Football Insider.

Manchester City identified Livramento as their first choice right-back target early in the summer transfer window, but Newcastle were tipped to place a £165million price tag on his head in their bid to retain him.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Newcastle are desperate to keep Livramento as a long-term pillar of Eddie Howe‘s backline, and are now taking steps to do so.

Football Insider revealed on 12 September that Newcastle are ready to open new contract talks with Livramento at Howe’s behest, after they successfully staved off big-spending Man City in the summer.

With Newcastle valuating Livramento at over £80m, my sources have said that there is a confidence that the England defender will commit his future to the Magpies after the progress he’s made under Howe.

Livramento is well on his way to booking a place in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, and my sources have told Football Insider that regular Champions League qualification will be a key factor for Newcastle to tie him down to a new contract.

Man City set to return with renewed Tino Livramento interest

Man City were urged to accelerate a move for Livramento after bolstering the other side of their defence with ex-Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, but he could sign a new deal before January comes around.

“During the summer window, Manchester City were eyeing up a move for Livramento”, I stated on the new Inside Track Podcast.

“Newcastle will be confident that they can keep hold of Livramento, especially if they continue their progress and can offer the player regular Champions League football.

“They don’t want any reason for Livramento to leave, as he’s part of the England squad now as well.

“Everything’s going right for Livramento right now, and he will be fully deserving of a new contract if Newcastle want to offer him one.”

Tino Livramento in perfect place to push England ambitions

Finance expert Dr Dan Plumley told Football Insider that Man City could have afforded a late move for Livramento before the transfer window closed, but they instead moved to secure Rico Lewis‘ future.

Livramento is one of several right-backs vying for a place in Tuchel‘s squad next summer, but staying put at Newcastle may be his best bet to do so and maintain the strong Three Lions contingent at Newcastle.

Tuchel has tapped into Livramento’s ability to play on both flanks and has partnered him up with Magpies team-mate Anthony Gordon on the left wing, and this chemistry may prove to be key for England’s hopes in 2026.
