Newcastle’s updated stance on Bruno Guimaraes exit revealed
Newcastle United are adamant Bruno Guimaraes will remain at the club despite their failure to secure European qualification, sources have told Football Insider.
The Magpies finished seventh in the table but missed out on Uefa Conference League football in a new blow after Man United won the FA Cup.
Guimaraes is available via a £100million release clause in his contract at St James’ Park.
That deal must be struck before 30 June, with interested clubs facing a race against time to move for the Brazil international.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that missing out on Conference League football is unlikely to have a bearing on Guimaraes’ future if that clause is not activated.
Sources say the former Lyon star is settled on Tyneside and is happy with the club’s progress.
Newcastle adamant on Guimaraes future despite European blow
Guimaraes penned a new contract at Newcastle in October 2023, keeping him at the club until June 2028.
He played 50 times across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, starting in 48 of those outings.
The Brazil international, who will play for his country at this summer’s Copa America, notched seven goals and 10 assists this term.

Newcastle agreed a reported potential fee of around £40million to sign Guimaraes in January 2022 and stand to make a huge profit if his release clause is activated this summer.
The Magpies also have Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, Joe Willock, Lewis Miley, Sean Longstaff and Elliot Anderson in their midfield ranks.
