With Leeds United’s season disintegrating following a wretched run of results stretching back to Boxing Day, thoughts among fans are inevitably turning to the future.
Many have been highly critical of the current squad for failing to live up to expectations, a stance echoed by owner Andrea Radrizzani, who has consistently stated that it is a stronger one than that which finished seventh under Garry Monk last season.
While many would dispute Radrizzani’s claim, there is little doubt that many of the signings brought in during the last two windows and that already-established players handed long-term contracts last year have not done the business.
Meanwhile, it has not gone unnoticed that the Under-23s and Under-18s have been transformed by the recruitment of the younger players.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tom Pearce have been promoted to the senior squad in recent weeks and manager Paul Heckingbottom has now confirmed that three more are in line to follow.
Football Insider analyses the next three breakthrough players, including a brilliant dribbler who Leeds have signed from under the noses of Manchester City.
