Niclas Fullkrug issues ‘rehab’ news after West Ham injury update

West Ham striker Niclas Fullkrug took to social media after suffering yet another injury during the FA Cup loss against Aston Villa.

The Hammers lost 2-1, despite taking the lead through Lucas Paqueta. However, goals from Morgan Rogers and Amadou Onana saw Unai Emery’s side progress.

Fullkrug has struggled with injuries this season, preventing him from gaining any momentum since his £27.5 million move from Borussia Dortmund (Sky Sports).

The striker confirmed the setback on Instagram after being substituted just 15 minutes into the Villa game. He wrote: “Unfortunately, the injury I sustained during Friday’s game will sideline me for a while. However, I’ve already started rehab and will give it my all to return to the pitch as soon as possible!

“Thank you so much for all your messages and get-well wishes”.

West Ham urgently need reinforcements under Graham Potter

It’s likely that West Ham will regret not signing Jhon Duran instead of Fullkrug, especially given their heavy links to him last summer. Football Insider revealed the club has now had another bid for Duran rejected as they continue to search for attacking reinforcements.

The hierarchy has been concerned about his injury issues since early in the season. This latest injury will only add to those worries.

With Michail Antonio out after a car crash and Jarrod Bowen also injured, the team needs to look at the transfer market.

West Ham have been linked with a loan move for Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, a move that could benefit both parties. Ferguson is currently out of favour at Brighton, while Graham Potter’s attack is in desperate need of reinforcements.

The club has also been linked to a sensational deal for Marcus Rashford, though a loan would only be possible if his high wages are significantly reduced.

New manager Potter would have been briefed on any potential transfer plans before his arrival. Given the current injury crisis, it’s crucial that the club bring in attacking reinforcements.

In other news, West Ham fans are pushing for the club to sign a Chelsea midfielder.
