Nico Jackson to Enzo Fernandez: ‘You’ll pay me’ for what you did in Chelsea win

Nicolas Jackson has told Enzo Fernandez he owes him “a lot of assists” after stopping his Chelsea teammate picking up a yellow card in their win over Tottenham.

Enzo Maresca’s side continued their excellent recent form with a 4-3 win in North London on Sunday afternoon (8 December).

Fernandez played a part in that when he produced an excellent finish to make it 3-2 to the Blues, sparking wild celebrations after they had trailed 2-0 early on, as Jackson bailed the midfielder out in that incident.

As the Argentina international attempted to take his shirt off after scoring the striker grabbed hold of it to stop him doing so, preventing him picking up the customary booking for such a celebration.

Jackson is now expecting plenty of supply from his Chelsea teammate in return for that helping hand.

Taking to Instagram the Senegal international posted a picture of him stopping Fernandez from celebrating in a way that would have got him booked, along with a caption that when translated, reads: “Hahaha you’re welcome brother. [Enzo] you’ll pay me with a lot of assists”.

The fact Jackson is expecting to finish those chances Fernandez creates for him also shows his confidence right now, which is also understandable.

After a mixed debut campaign for Chelsea, the striker has been in outstanding form during the current season with eight goals in 14 Premier League games alone.

Many would certainly back him to take anything that comes his way at the minute, and supporters at Stamford Bridge will hope that continues for a long time to come yet.

Considering the way things are going for Chelsea both on and off the pitch right now, there appears to be little reason to expect that to change at any point in the near future, with this formula working so well.

Fernandez himself has seen his fortunes turn after struggling to get into Maresca’s side earlier this season to scoring or assisting in each of the past five Premier League outings.
