Nicolas Jackson and Reece James react to Marc Cucurella’s ‘big’ Chelsea message
Marc Cucurella’s latest message after Chelsea’s Conference League win sparked plenty of reactions from his teammates.
Chelsea took a major step towards the Conference League quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory away at Copenhagen and now turn their attention to Leicester City on 9 March.
Reece James opened the scoring after a goalless first half, with Enzo Fernandez doubling the advantage before a late goal from the hosts made for a tense finish.
James sent a message to Chelsea fans after the match, reflecting on his performance in an unfamiliar midfield role, and Cucurella soon followed with his own message of appreciation for the fans.

Marc Cucurella set for key role in Conference League after Ben Chilwell and Renato Veiga departures
Cucurella shared a message with fans after Chelsea’s victory, writing: “Big win away, see you on Sunday!”
His post was met with support from multiple teammates, including Christopher Nkunku and goalscorers James and Fernandez, who liked his post.
The Spaniard made just his second start in the Conference League against Copenhagen but is now set to take on greater responsibility in Europe following the departures of Ben Chilwell and Renato Veiga.
Veiga was frustrated by his lack of game time at Chelsea and secured a loan move to Juventus in January, while Chilwell—who had been linked with an exit for much of the season—was given just one start under Enzo Maresca before leaving the club. Cucurella now finds himself as the club’s primary left-back both domestically and in Europe.
Enzo Maresca backs Marc Cucurella despite mounting pressure
Maresca has come under fire for his handling of Chilwell, especially in light of Veiga’s departure, which has left Chelsea with limited options should Cucurella suffer an injury.
The Italian manager has frequently rotated his squad in the Conference League while fielding a more consistent lineup in the Premier League as shown when Cucurella has started 23 games compared to Veiga’s one start. But this strategy may have influenced some players’ decisions to leave.
With Chelsea out of all domestic competitions, the Conference League is now their only chance to secure silverware this season. The Blues remain on a seven-game winning streak in the tournament, and while pressure continues to mount on Maresca, lifting a trophy could help ease scrutiny.
For now, attention turns to their upcoming clash against Leicester City on 9 March.
