Nicolas Jackson reacts to Robert Sanchez announcement at Chelsea after exit rumours
Nicolas Jackson reacted to an announcement from Chelsea concerning shot-stopper Robert Sanchez.
The West London club’s goalkeeping situation has been riddled with uncertainty for several years now, and was a major problem last season.
Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen were both given opportunities to impress, but failed to seize the moment with the Spaniard making a Premier League-leading five errors leading to goals.
Chelsea explored a move for Mike Maignan prior to the Club World Cup (CWC), but a deal was unable to be struck with AC Milan.
This led to Enzo Maresca sticking with the ex-Brighton man as his number one for the tournament in the USA.
Sanchez almost cost Chelsea a goal in the semi-final win against Fluminense, but Marc Cucurella was on hand to spare the 27-year-old his blushes.
Robert Sanchez awarded CWC Golden Glove
Despite a few shaky moments during the tournament, Sanchez proved his worth to Chelsea by repeatedly denying PSG in the CWC final, playing a major role as the Premier League side claimed their second trophy in just a matter of months.
And after making six saves again the Parisians in the Blues’ 3-0 win, Sanchez was announced as the tournament’s Golden Glove winner.
Chelsea shared an image of the beaming Spaniard on Instagram and the post was liked by Sanchez’s teammate, Jackson.

Football Insider Verdict
Sanchez was heavily linked with a Chelsea exit ahead of the summer transfer window opening after a fairly miserable season in net for the West London side.
However, Maresca has shown faith in the Spaniard and the 27-year-old responded with a truly inspired performance against PSG.
Chelsea are prepared to accept offers for Djordje Petrovic, Mick Brown told Football Insider exclusively.
The Serbian shot-stopper was left out of the Blues’ CWC squad, a move that went down like a lead balloon with fans after a strong season from the 25-year-old on loan with Strasbourg.
But with Chelsea needing to reduce their spending and improve their PSR standing, selling Petrovic, who was signed for £14million in 2023 [Sky Sports], will give a boost to their accounting books.
