Nicolas Jackson sends emotional message to Chelsea fans: ‘I’m so angry’
Nicolas Jackson issued an emotional and ‘angry’ message to supporters and teammates after being sent off for Chelsea in their clash with Flamengo.
Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the Club World Cup campaign after a dramatic 3-1 loss to the Brazilian side, despite initially taking the lead.
Pedro Neto opened the scoring once again for Enzo Maresca’s side, but six chaotic minutes in the second half turned the game on its head.
Bruno Henrique netted the equaliser in the 62nd minute, before Danilo put Flamengo in front just three minutes later. Things went from bad to worse for Chelsea when Jackson was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge three minutes after that.
Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett told Football Insider that Jackson should receive a minimum five-game ban for the challenge, which was deemed high and dangerous , catching the opposing player on the shin.
In the aftermath of the match, the striker has now broken his silence and addressed the incident publicly, posting a statement online to express his feelings and apologise for his actions.
Nicolas Jackson apologises and takes ‘full responsibility’ after Flamengo red card
The Senegal international issued a public apology via his Instagram story, addressing fans, teammates and staff following his sending off against Flamengo.
He wrote:
“I want to say sorry. To the club, the staff, my teammates, and all the fans watching, I let you down.
“Another red card… and honestly, I’m so angry at myself.
“I work hard every day to help the team not to put us in this kind of situation. I still don’t fully understand how it happened. But one thing is clear: it wasn’t intentional.
“Just a football moment that went the wrong way.
“No excuses. I take full responsibility. I’ll reflect, I’ll grow, and I’ll come back stronger for the badge and for everyone who believes in me.
“Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.”

Jackson’s performance and red-card challenge was deemed embarrassing and just moments after he was dismissed, Flamengo capitalised and sealed the win with a third goal.
It’s not the first time he has landed himself in trouble. Jackson was sent off against Newcastle near the end of last season for violent conduct, following an incident involving a flailing elbow on Sven Botman.
Fans expressed frustration after that incident, with many Chelsea supporters calling for Jackson to be sold. Now, with another red card in quick succession, his standing at the club appears increasingly fragile.

Jackson’s Chelsea future in doubt amid striker shake-up
With Chelsea signing Liam Delap from Ipswich, and with the club still in the market for another striker, Jackson’s future at the club looks uncertain.
While it’s believed Jackson has no desire to leave Stamford Bridge, but with interest from La Liga, it could present him with a potential exit route, especially in light of recent disciplinary issues.
For now, Chelsea’s attention remains on their Club World Cup campaign — but for Jackson, a period of reflection may be needed as uncertainty over his long-term role at the club grows.
