Nile John: Tottenham starlet could extend Charlton loan to 2023 after ‘brilliant’ news – Insider

Nile John could play for Charlton for the next year and a half after he joined the club on loan from Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Charlton confirmed they had loaned John, 18, for the rest of the season on 27 January.

The Addicks are 15th in League One and are well clear of the relegation picture.

Wenham claims John could rejoin the club next season if his loan spell goes well and highlighted the strong links between the two London clubs.

“Nile John has gone off to Charlton, which I think is a brilliant move,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Chris Powell went along with him the day it was all announced and I thought that was really great.

“He is a bit of a Charlton legend. I think it was really good that he did that, just to make sure everything was ok.

“It has set John on a positive path. Johnnie Jackson, the Charlton manager, is a former Tottenham player so I imagine he has a decent relationship with the club.

“There is a good link there, I do wonder if we will see more of our youth players go down there in the future. I think there’s a bright future there.

“The other thing with this is if John has a decent second half of the season I would expect him to rejoin Charlton on a season-long loan in the summer.”

John has made 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 this season, scoring seven goals.

He also has two senior Spurs appearances to his name.
