Nkunku and Savinho react to Matheus Cunha’s Wolves farewell amid Man United latest
Wolves’ Matheus Cunha has caught the attention of Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and Manchester City’s Savinho with his emotional goodbye message.
Vitor Pereira’s side drew 1-1 with Brentford on the final day of the season, with the Brazilian forward playing the full 90 minutes.
Cunha has been at the Midlands club since 2023, where he initially arrived from Atletico Madrid on loan, before the deal was made permanent.
The 25-year-old found the net 15 times over the course of the 2024/25 campaign, as well as picking up six assists as Wolves finished 16th in the Premier League.

Cunha says goodbye
Last week (23 May), Football Insider exclusively revealed Cunha was in very advanced talks with Manchester United, after the Red Devils triggered a £62.5million release clause.
Despite Ruben Amorim’s side failing to qualify for the Champions League, as United were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham in the Europa League final, the Wolves man is still expected to make the switch to Manchester.
Cunha appeared to wave goodbye to the Molineux crowd after the Brentford game, and took to social media on Monday (26 May) to send an emotional message.
In a post on Instagram, the Brazilian shared pictures of his emotional farewell after the final match of the season, with the caption: “Wolves, what can I say to you? What an incredible season. We didn’t get to where you deserve to be, but we did everything we could to make you proud. I love these guys.
“Individually, it was the best season of my life. All of this was only possible because of all the dedication and love I have for this club. I became the Brazilian with the most goals in a Premier League season, along with @roberto_firmino and @gabriel.martinelli 🫶🏽🇧🇷. I made mistakes and got things right, but always because I lived this club so much. All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for Wolves. Another one is over. And thank you all for all the affection.”
Cunha’s former RB Leipzig teammate Christopher Nkunku liked the post to show his support, as did fellow Brazilian international Savinho.
Man United should be wary of Cunha’s attitude
Football Insider Verdict
Man United beat the likes of Arsenal to Cunha’s signature, and the attacker is an impressive addition to Amorim’s side.
The former Atletico Madrid man brings the ability to make something out of nothing, often dragging his Wolves team through games single-handedly.
However, as is so often the case with players that the Red Devils bring in, there are question marks around his personality and character.
One of the reasons Arsenal didn’t pursue Cunha was his poor attitude, and the forward has been in the news for the wrong reasons on more than one occasion.
If Amorim can get the best out of the 25-year-old, and keep him under control, there is no doubt that Cunha is a fantastic signing.
However, if it goes wrong, we could have another situation similar to that of Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Rasmus Hojlund, who didn’t live up to their price tag
