‘No guarantees’ – Celtic mainstay delivers verdict on his future amid frenzy of speculation

Celtic mainstay Kieran Tierney has admitted that while anything can happen in football he does not plan on leaving the Hoops anytime soon.

The 20-year-old, who was a regular in the Hoops’ senior side this season with 55 appearances across all competitions, was set to be watched by Atletico Madrid scouts in the Scottish Cup Final, as reported by BBC Sport.

Any scouts watching would have been impressed as Tierney turned in an excellent performance in the Bhoys’ 2-0 win over Motherwell.

However, despite the speculation, the defender has confirmed he is not in a rush to leave the Hoops.

“I don’t have a decision to make. I have signed at Celtic for six years” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“It’s football, you never know what can happen, there are no guarantees. But I’m really happy here, and I think you can see that.

Tierney and his team-mates will now head off for their summer break before the Bhoys return for pre-season training.

Football Insider verdict

Hoops fans will be slightly wary about Tierney’s comments, although they will be pleased that he does not seem to be in a hurry to leave the Bhoys anytime soon. Atletico scouts or anybody else watching the cup final would have been very impressed with Tierney’s performance against the Steelmen, as he was up and down the wing excelling in both defence and attack, with perhaps his final ball only being a disappointment. It will be very interesting to see what happens if any clubs decide to put in a huge bid for Tierney, as surely the Hoops would turn down any bid they get from any club, no matter how much money is offered, as fans would be furious if Tierney was sold in the summer, as he is still at the beginning of his career. The player will eventually leave the Hoops, as most fans would have imagined, but it is unlikely that it will be anytime soon.
