Outspoken BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has yet again put the cat amongst the pigeons with his comments about Celtic’s January loan signing Charly Musonda.
Sutton expressed his surprise that the 21-year-old attacker, who came to the Hoops in a blaze of publicity, had only started three games since joining the Hoops on an 18 month loan deal from Chelsea.
“In a short space of time he’s gone from the star signing to not getting a game, I’m surprised” Sutton said, as quoted on Football on BT Sport’s Twitter account.

However, there is no need for panic yet from Hoops fans, as Musonda gets used to life with the Hoops. Perhaps the player was over-hyped on arrival, but that is the nature of football these days.
If the loan deal was until the end of this season, then there would be something to worry about, but as Musonda is at the Hoops for 18 months, he can take his time to bed into the side.
Supporters should look to Musonda’s current team-mate Patrick Roberts as example of what can happen: Roberts had a slow start to his 18 month loan deal with the Hoops, but eventually found himself in the team towards the end of the season and kicked on from there.
There is still the possibility of Musonda making an impact this season, but with a full pre-season under his belt in the summer it’s unlikely that fans will see the best of the player until next season.
