However, the document also gives the power for the SPFL to call the Premiership season now, stating there may be legitimate reasons to bring this campaign to a premature end.
Whelan believes that Celtic want the governing body to hold off making an immediate decision, suggesting they would rather see the season completed in full.
Asked if Celtic might be made to wait for the title after UEFA’s update, Whelan told Football Insider: “Yeah, I think so. Look, Celtic don’t want to win the title with the season stopping now – they want to play all the games.

“I don’t think any player or manager wants to win a league title this way and I don’t think the fans want it concluded this way either. It’s imperative that if we can get it finished, we get it finished at all levels of the game.
“No one wants it stopped right now – if it’s behind closed doors, it’s behind closed doors but finish the remainder of the season because then it’s more justified you’ve won the points, you’ve won the games and you’ve earned the right.
“Celtic have won it already in my opinion but they don’t want to win it by the season being stopped right now.”
Celtic currently sit 13 points ahead of second-placed Rangers at the top of the Premiership table, having played one game more than Steven Gerrard’s men.
The Glasgow giants were set to go head-to-head on the weekend that the season was suspended.
