Celtic defender gives fitness update after spell on sidelines
Jozo Simunovic has addressed the fitness issues that have critics feel has blighted his season, although the Celtic defender doesn’t believe that he has a poor injury record, claiming that he has “no problem” with his fitness.
The centre-half is confident that Celtic can defeat Anderlecht in their final Champions League group stage tie and clinch Europa League football.
The Hoops are big favourites to make the last 32 of the Europa and be in Europa after Christmas, as they currently lead the Belgian champions by three points and three goals.
The Bosnian defender – who has not long returned from a spell on the sidelines – isn’t taking anything for granted in the game, but, as quoted by the Evening Times, he has revealed that Brendan Rodgers’ side believe that they can get the result required.
“I have been back now for a few games and I feel as though I am back up to full match fitness” he said.
He added: “We know what we have to do and we feel good about it, we have the backing of the crowd and we feel confident going into the game.

The Bhoys are in position to qualify for the Europa League after their superb victory in Belgium in September, where goals from Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair secured a 3-0 victory, only the second ever away victory in the Champions League group stages for the Scottish Champions.
The Hoops are in the midst of an extremely busy schedule, which not only includes the game against Anderlecht but also league games against the likes of Aberdeen and Rangers.
