No 'way back' for 'disrespectful' Ndombele at Spurs as new footage emerges - pundit

Noel Whelan has suggested there is no “way back” for Tanguy Ndombele at Tottenham after his “disrespectful” act of petulance.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old’s “performances and attitude” have been “woeful” since his arrival in north London.

Ndombele was loudly booed (as per Chris Cowlin) by the Tottenham faithful on Sunday (9 January) as he trudged off the pitch with Spurs 1-0 down against League One Morecambe in the FA Cup third round.

The France international then headed straight down the tunnel before Antonio Conte’s side managed to turn the tie on its head to win 3-1.

As per Sky Sports (11 January), Spurs have held talks with Spanish and Italian clubs regarding a move for Ndombele – with the midfielder interested in a January exit.

Whelan insisted the midfielder disrespected “the fans, the club, and Conte” by walking down the tunnel.

“Conte gave him yet another chance at Tottenham, and he just didn’t take it,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“The fans are voicing their disapproval, and rightly so. His attitude and performances are woeful.

“He’s their record signing, let’s not forget. That’s four managers now who have had the chance to get the best out of him and improve him.

“He’s shown disrespect to the fans, the club, and the manager by walking straight down the tunnel. Quite frankly, I don’t think there’s any way back from that. I think his time’s up.

“I just don’t know who is going to take a player like that on.”

Ndombele signed for Tottenham in 2019 for a reported club-record fee of £55million.

The midfielder has started just one Premier League match under Conte.
