Kevin Campbell has ripped into Arsenal “schoolboy” Granit Xhaka and demanded he is sold.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Gunners striker slammed the 28-year-old for his work both on and off the ball in the 2-0 loss in the North London derby.

Xhaka made his third consecutive league start as Mikel Arteta’s side slipped to their sixth defeat of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Despite enjoying 70 per cent possession on Sunday, Arsenal failed to break down a stubborn Jose Mourinho side and were devastatingly exposed on the counter-attack.

Campbell suggested that Xhaka was responsible for both the lack of creativity and defensive frailties shown against Spurs.

“Xhaka plays so slowly,” he told Football Insider.

“He has no zip about his game. He keeps the ball and passes it to a red shirt most of the time but passing like that is easy to defend against.

“For the second goal the whole midfield emptied. The whole midfield was open to an attack just before half-time. It was five against three and that is including Leno.

“That is asking for trouble. This is schoolboy football.

“Where is Granit Xhaka? Where is he? It is crazy. This is schoolboy stuff.

“Listen, he is not great but we have not really replaced him with anyone as such. We need somebody else in there to quicken things up.”

Bundesliga side Augsburg took to Twitter to troll the centre-midfielder for his performance on Sunday.

The loss leaves the Gunners 15th in the table, 11 points off Spurs after just 11 games.
