Noni Madueke among three England players who’ll be delighted with Thomas Tuchel contract news
Thomas Tuchel has signed a new contract extension with the FA which will keep him in charge of the England national team until after Euro 2028.
Tuchel initially signed a deal that ended directly after the 2026 World Cup when he was first named as England‘s new manager in October 2024.
He took charge of his first Three Lions game in March 2025, and has since won nine of the 10 games that he has overseen in the last 11 months.
England qualified for the World Cup with a dominant 5-0 win over Latvia in October, and will head to North America this summer with high hopes of winning silverware for the first time since 1966.
Tuchel has stayed loyal to certain players and will now be able to take a long-term view with England, rather than focusing solely on the present, so Football Insider have picked out three players who are set to benefit from his contract extension.

Noni Madueke
Madueke has not been at his best in terms of output since joining Arsenal from Chelsea last summer, but has been impressive generally as they charge towards the Premier League title.
He has started in three of his four England appearances since Tuchel became manager, assisting once and scoring his first goal for his country against Serbia in September.
The only games he has missed for the Three Lions over the last year have been due to respective hamstring and knee injuries, and the German boss certainly seems to admire Madueke and the trickery he brings to his side.
Lewis Hall
Newcastle star Hall is yet to add to his two England caps under Tuchel, but news of his extension should still serve as a boost to his chances of playing more regularly on the international stage.
The young left-back has been one of the Magpies’ standout performers this season, with many of their fans and neutrals alike clamouring for him to make Tuchel’s next squad.
It certainly seems likely that he is called up for the upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, especially with Myles Lewis-Skelly struggling for minutes at Arsenal and Nico O’Reilly going through some patchy form at Man City.
Both of those players have played regularly under Tuchel so far, and he may well have been planning to stick by them for the World Cup, given that he was set to depart his role after it.
Now that he is set to take a longer-term view when it comes to players and allowing them more time to bed in, Hall is surely going to be given a chance to stake his claim to be England’s starting left-back.
Jordan Henderson
Henderson is now a veteran of the game at 35-years-old, but has remained in Tuchel’s thoughts ahead of the World Cup due to his experience and strong character behind the scenes.
He has also enjoyed a decent season upon his return to the Premier League with Brentford, helping them into European contention with 23 appearances so far.

Tuchel is likely to take Henderson to the World Cup this summer, given that he has included him in every squad since his arrival, but the former Liverpool captain could now be in line to extend his international career for another two years.
His leadership qualities and on-field ability has clearly impressed Tuchel so far, and while a potential new manager may have dropped Henderson after this tournament, this new extension could mean he remains a key man for the Three Lions.
